President's Message

The mission of the branch is to provide value to its members, promote the profession of civil engineering; and serve the public good by bringing attention to the services provided by civil engineers, reaching out to area students to encourage interest in a civil engineering career, and educating members and the public about the state of our infrastructure. The Birmingham branch continues to accomplish this mission by conducting monthly branch meetings which provide members with continuing education and networking opportunities, coordinating the annual Golf tournament to raise funds for the scholarship program, volunteering at the McWane Science Center Engineering Showcase as well as the Future City Program as part of the Richard C. Woodruff Pre-College Outreach Program, providing mentoring opportunities to college students, sponsoring members to attend ASCE national meetings and conferences, and recognizing our members via awards and honors.

The primary initiatives for the 2017 fiscal year include increasing branch membership, providing enhanced networking opportunities, continuing to engage the Birmingham community, further supporting the area ASCE Student Chapters and Younger Members Group, and providing meeting speakers and mentoring opportunities for the membership. Through the leadership of the branch and committees, we will achieve our goals.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our many upcoming events including our monthly branch meetings, the Annual Holiday Social, and the annual Golf Tournament in the Spring of 2017.
